About Individual Counselling
You don’t have to be in crisis to deserve support.

Maybe something feels a bit off, but you can’t quite put your finger on it. Maybe you’ve been carrying a heavy burden for so long that it’s just become your normal. Or maybe you know exactly what’s wrong, but don’t know where to start. Individual counselling gives you a dedicated hour with a therapist who’s entirely in your corner—a space to make sense of what’s happening and map out a way forward.
Our RP (Registered Psychotherapist) and RSW (Registered Social Worker) therapists work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship struggles, burnout, identity questions, and those sudden life transitions that completely knock the ground out from under you.
Individual therapy at BeWell means a real relationship with a therapist who knows and understands your story, a safe space to say the things you haven’t been able to say out loud, and practical, evidence-based tools—including CBT, EMDR, trauma-informed care, and solution-focused therapy—that drive actual progress.
Not sure where to start?
How Getting Started Works:
For new clients starting the process.
The first step of individual counselling starts with you. Here’s what to expect:
Step 1: First Contact
Step 2: Your First Session
Step 3: Building a Plan
Step 4: Ongoing Sessions
Most clients meet weekly or bi-weekly. As you build momentum, your therapist will adjust the pace and focus, based on your feedback. You’re in the driver’s seat.
Policies and Non-Negotiables:
We keep things simple and transparent, so you know exactly what to expect before your first session.
Confidentiality:
What you share in session stays between you and your therapist. We follow Ontario’s privacy legislation (PHIPA) and professional regulatory standards. The only exceptions are situations that involve risk of harm—which your therapist will explain clearly at the start of your session.
Cancellations:
Your time is reserved for you. We ask for 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations may be subject to a fee. This protects your therapist’s time and keeps appointment availability open for clients on our waitlist.
Direct Billing:
Many extended health plans cover RP and RSW services. We direct-bill select providers—check our Direct Billing page to view a current list. If you’re unsure about your coverage, please confirm with your workplace or insurance provider.
No AI in Therapy:
We do not believe that the privacy and confidentiality protections currently in place around AI can be guaranteed at the level counselling requires. Therapy is one of the few places where you can say the hard things and trust that they will stay in the room. We aim to keep it that way.
There are times when a therapist may request a client to consent to being audio or video recorded for their learning or certification purposes. This will only be done with client’s full, written consent.
Between Sessions:
Therapy doesn’t stop when your session is over. Your therapist may suggest reflection exercises, journalling prompts, or tolerable practice activities to try between appointments—these are where a lot of the real growth happens. Come back ready to share what came up for you.
